Charters SPEAK Bootcamp FY25
Bootcamp is a specialized one-day, in-person workshop designed to provide Charters SPEAK members in their first or second year of communications and advocacy work in charter public schools with foundational background to support their success. (With that said, any members of the community of practice who feel the content would be valuable, are welcome to attend.)
Topics will include:
- Where did charter public schools come from, and what are they? Learn about the creation of charter public schools, here in Massachusetts and nationwide, and how they have evolved over time. Additionally, we’ll dive into what makes charter public schools unique among the options available to families within the broader public education system.
- How do I message about charters, especially when it’s hard? We’ll do a primer on charter messaging 101. We’ll also explore why charter public schools have become so divisive and how to talk to those who may have misinformation about our schools.
- What’s my role? We’ll discuss common core responsibilities of communications and advocacy professionals and what your day-to-day and week-to-week can look like to support success.
Any questions? Please contact Drew Forster, Senior Director of Communications.
An optional breakfast and networking session will be held from 9:30 to 10:00. The program will formally begin at 10:00 a.m. and will conclude at 3:30 p.m.
If you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please notify Madeleine Sims at msims@masscharterschools.org no later than October 18th.
