Charters SPEAK is a community of practice for public affairs (communications and advocacy) professionals from MCPSA member schools, offering trainings, best practice sharing, and thought partnership around topics related to advancing political and public support for the charter public school sector in Massachusetts.

This in-person workshop, our second of the 2023-2024 school year, will focus on Advocacy in Action.

Understanding the Road Ahead: Better understand what lies ahead legislatively in 2024, and how we can influence outcomes through advocacy, community mobilization, and powerful storytelling.
Dialogue with Rep. Chris Worrell: Learn firsthand from a sitting member of the Education Committee, Representative Chris Worrell, about how schools can most effectively advocate, educate, and build deep relationships with legislators.
Legal Deep Dive - The State Ethics Guidelines: Through a presentation and Q&A with a legal team, build understanding of the state ethics guidelines and how schools and their staff members can effectively engage in legislative and electoral advocacy, as well as what they can and cannot do to encourage others (students, families, board members, etc.) to get involved.
Build Relationships: Strengthen relationships with communications and advocacy peers from member schools all across the state.

An optional breakfast and networking session will be held from 9:30 - 10:00. The program will formally begin at 10:00 and will conclude at 2:45.
